Are there signs of life on Mars as we speak?
There are no signs of life on mars as at now despite the fact the NASA team has been working tirelessly on solving the puzzle regarding the same. It has been impossible to test whether there was signs of life in Mars simply because of lack of sophisticated equipment crucial for testing directly for life. Remember that life is tested based the availability of plants and water molecules but this has not been found on the surface of Mars. However after a series of tests ran on rocks, there was once life on mars and that it sustained life. The only way to solve this curiosity is to find out whether life existed here and it is only from here that we can tell if mars is still habitable.
I would like to be one of those working in the NASA mars Mission control room. What must I do to get there?
Where there is will, there is always a way! Now, the first step is pursuing your studies by taking those courses which are directly related to space research. This means that you need to study sciences and not arts. Most of those who find themselves in the control room are worked who had passion in science; research and engineering. Passion is also key as far as you being an engineer is concerned. Just pursue the right direction of study and you will surely get there.
Considering that the Mars has lost its atmosphere; is there a way to reverse it?
It is crucial to understand that Mars has lost its magnetic field as a result of freezing of the iron-nickel core. The magnetic file has dies and all the materials which were once on the surface of mars have been stripped away. The solar wind is actually the forces behind the loss of mar’s atmosphere. The atmosphere has since turned into weathered rocks. Unlike the earth, the mars has no solid magnetic field hence the earth is attracting all hydrogen molecules from it. Hydrogen is the basis of life per say.
Human beings are known to colonize warm regions of the planet. Why can’t we colonize some of the warmest sections of Mars if all other parts are frozen?
The mars borders the earth and just like the earth, some of the warmest places are those places which are dark and can absorb a lot of sunlight. This might be the best place for humans but the issue is the fact that no one knows is there is enough oxygen there. Even with the fact that human beings can settle in the warmest regions of the mars, there are low chances that oxygen and even water molecules can last to see man thrive.
Can asteroid hit the surface of mars?
There are a variety of particle straying away from their orbit and they can hit all the other planets including the mars. In that case, it is true for one to speculate such an idea but this only happens when such object are small. It is rare for a large particle from the asteroids to hit the other planets.
There are sparkling white material on Mars visible through NASA’s satellite pictures. What are those?
It is actually true that the northern pole on Mars has white materials. These are basically frozen carbon dioxide. The ice fond in the north pole of mars are as a result of frozen CO2 and that is the reason behind the fact that they are very bright. Normal ice made of hydrogen and oxygen may not be bright simply because the lack enough carbon molecules. This is the reason why some section of mars are white and bright.
If it is true that Mars is the only planet with life, why was it able to maintain rivers and lakes in the past? And has this phenomenon changed?
Most of those areas that are warmers may have surface deposits of liquid water and ice. The reason why Mars had water is due to the fact that there were a number of active volcanoes. The volcanic activities were associated with underground heat which heated the surface hence unfreezing the waters. As soon as the volcanoes went dormant, the surface water were frozen and covered by surface deposits. In the past, intact magnetic field kept the surface water (lakes and rivers0 intact. This has since changed.
Considering that there is low gravity, does Mars have a chance to hold liquid water?
Unless the right gravitate force is restores; Mars may never recover or hold any liquid water again. In that past the high atmospheric pressure kept everything in place but right now, there is lower atmospheric pressure which means that there is nothing much to be done.
